Mona Mahajan: The first and most important thing you want to ask yourself is “What is my risk and tolerance profile”? If you are closer to that retirement age, you may be, you do not need or do not want to obtain high growth capital profiles, capital type investments. You want to balance the portfolio with a little more fixed income with bond investments to complement some of those higher growth and higher market risk.

Now, if you are younger in your investment career and maybe you have inherited some money or have accumulated a good early nest egg and you have some time to let that grow with a slightly greater risk tolerance, then you have a different profile. So really the first thing you want to ask yourself is what my investment risk profile is. Where do I have how long in the market and what are my long -term goals that I want to achieve with that financial success I get?
