ESPN put Doris Burke on its lead NBA broadcast team, which will make her the first woman to broadcast the NBA Finals. But the network isn’t stopping there, as it’s also putting young star Andraya Carter in a historic position.
Carter will be the first woman to take on a full-time role on ESPN’s “College GameDay,” its NCAA basketball pre-game show. ESPN announced on Monday and it was first reported by Front Office Sports.

He has been at ESPN since 2018, primarily covering games for SEC Network. But in recent years, Carter has continued to gain more and more prominence calling ESPN events in men’s and women’s basketball at both the college and professional levels.
Carter has been an analyst for “WNBA Countdown” and the 2023 NBA Draft. She received a multi-year extension from ESPN, although the details are unclear.
In addition to her new role on “College GameDay,” Carter will continue to be an NBA sideline reporter, an NBA Draft analyst and in the booth for the network’s women’s college games.
On the pregame show, Carter will be joined by host Rece Davis and analysts Jay Bilas, Dan Shulman, Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams.
Carolyn Peck, who also received an extension from the network, will also move some of her analyst duties from women’s soccer to men’s soccer.

ESPN has had a roller coaster ride with its on-air personalities since it laid off about 20 talent in June.
LaPhonso Ellis, who had been on “College GameDay” since 2019, was part of ESPN’s summer cuts.
