(Reuters) – Walt disney (NYSE:) Co said Wednesday it is raising prices for some theme park tickets at its Disneyland resort in California and Walt Disney World in Florida, weeks after the entertainment giant unveiled a major spending plan for its business. of parks.
The company has increased prices at Disneyland by up to 8.9%, and the price per ticket on busy days, such as holidays, increased by 8.4% to $194. Annual pass prices at Walt Disney World in Orlando are increasing by up to 10%, with the most expensive Incredi-Pass now selling for $1,449, an increase of $50.
Disney’s parks business saw a strong rebound from the pandemic, but domestic attendance has weakened recently as the high cost of living in the United States likely deters people from spending at theme parks.
Earlier this month, Disney said it will offer discounted ticket prices for children at its theme parks for a limited period in an attempt to stimulate traffic.
The attempts to boost revenue come after Disney unveiled a plan to spend $60 billion on parks and cruises over the next 10 years, a plan that came amid dwindling cash reserves at the company and which had worried some Wall Street analysts about its long path to profitability.
The price changes take effect immediately, Disney said in a statement Wednesday.
It won’t raise day pass prices in Florida and will also keep the price of its cheapest ticket at Disneyland the same, at $104, which hasn’t changed in four years.
