Theme park industry insiders say a classic Disney World and Disneyland Resort attraction could return to the parks later this year or perhaps as early as 2024.
Disney World in Orlando and the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, have been busy lately opening new attractions and renovating old ones so that guests return to the parks for new thrills.
Tron Lightcycle Run just opened April 4 at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Tomorrowland. Prospective passengers will need to register in the virtual queue for a run time.

Mickey’s Toontown land at Disneyland reopened March 19 after being closed for renovations since March 9, 2022. Toontown introduces a new ride already operating at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. In addition to the new Mickey and Minnie ride, Toontown opened a new park area known as CenTOONial Park that includes a new central Mickey fountain as well as a children’s play area, Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard.
The hyperspace mountain returns to Disneyland
Disneyland is currently transforming its Space Mountain thrill ride at Tomorrowland into Hyperspace Mountain, a limited-time experience beginning May 1 to coincide with Star Wars Month at the theme park, which runs from May 1 to April 4. June. Disneyland guests will land in a galaxy far, far away, the theme park says, with exciting flavors.
The Star Wars-themed overlay on the Hyperspace Mountain attraction will feature scenes of X-Wings, Starfighters and the Millennium Falcon flashing on the interior walls of Space Mountain to replicate the illusion of space travel in the attraction. The Star Wars-themed Hyperspace Mountain was first introduced during Disneyland’s Season of the Force in 2015.
The park hasn’t revealed all the details for Star Wars Month, but expects to find out the details this month. The Space Mountain Classic is expected to reopen on June 5, 2023.
On April 22, 2022, Disneyland began observing the 50th anniversary celebration of the Main Street Electrical Parade, which continued through September 1, 2022. Along with the parade, Disneyland launched its Disneyland Forever fireworks display, while California Adventure in Anaheim featured the World of Color Water, Color and Light Spectacular at that park’s Paradise Bay.
The Main Street Electrical Parade debuted at Disneyland on June 17, 1972, and continued through 1996. A version of the parade was presented at Disney World on June 11, 1977, and continued through 1991. The parade has also appeared at other Disney parks. over the years, including California Adventure.
The electric parade features floats decorated with thousands of sparkling lights accompanied by an electronic musical score based on “Baroque Hoedown” by Jean-Jacques Perrey and Gershon Kingsley. The parade was the first to play unique musical arrangements synchronized with each float unit.
The Main Street Electric Parade May Return
Visitors to Disneyland and Disney World are such fans of the classic Main Street Electrical Parade that rumors are already circulating that the parade will return to Disneyland this summer, sources said. News. The parade will then travel across the country to Disney World after the summer, appearing in Orlando in late 2023 or early 2024.
After the Electrical Parade returns to Orlando, another classic parade, Paint the Night, is expected to return to Disneyland in 2024.
