US automaker and Chrysler parent company Stellantis (NYSE:) unveiled its new Ram electric pickup truck on Wednesday. The truck is set to make its market debut in late 2024 as a key part of the automaker’s strategy to electrify its vehicle lineup.
The 2025 Ram 1500 REV, unveiled at the New York Auto Show, will have a range of up to 500 miles with an optional larger 229-kilowatt battery pack and will be built on a new body-on-frame architecture designed for electric vehicles from full size.
Capable of towing up to 14,000 pounds and carrying a payload of up to 2,700 pounds, the EV pickup will have a range of up to 350 miles with a standard 168-kilowatt battery pack, reaching 500 miles with the optional 229-kilowatt battery.
The launch of the Ram truck in late 2024 will come more than two years after similar EV trucks like the Rivian (NASDAQ:) R1T electric pickup truck and the Ford (NYSE:) F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck.
General Motors (NYSE:) plans to start delivering Chevrolet Silverado electric pickup trucks this fall. Tesla (NASDAQ:) CEO Elon Musk says the long-delayed Cybertruck will launch this year from a factory in Texas.
STLA shares fell 2.2% in midday trading on Wednesday.
