Most people go on cruises to treat themselves.
Eating and drinking may not be the only reason to cruise, but many passengers more than get their money's worth when it comes to their cruise. Many people have a favorite treat that they simply have to enjoy as soon as they board, while others have old favorites that they enjoy several times per cruise.

In real life, or at least on dry land when they're not on vacation, people don't top off three large meals with late-night pizza or room service. Cruises, however, are vacations and many people give themselves permission to treat themselves when they take time off from work.
Carnival Brand Ambassador posed a simple survey question to his followers:
“Which of these do you do on your cruises?”
All the articles that were voted on were related to diet and exercise. The results from more than 4,400 voters will not surprise you.
- Count your steps: 14%
- Eat a Guy Fieri burger once or more a day 22%
- Go to the gym: 6%
- Order a melted chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream: 26%
- Walking or running on the jogging track: 11%
- Consume at least one ice cream a day: 22%
As you can see from the votes, the majority of Heald's followers have chosen to treat themselves on their cruises. They explained their choices in the comments.

Carnival passengers denounce cruise ship gluttony
The majority of those surveyed were in favor of going with the flow when eating on their cruise.
“I usually get at least one ice cream cone a day, a pizza each day, and when you're in Excel class, Shaq's chicken is a must,” Paige Erickson posted.
Janice Blackwell VonWagoneer likes to change her whims every day.
“I may not eat Guys every day, but that's because I eat Shaq's chicken, potato salad and pickles. I eat some kind of dessert twice a day, not counting ice cream, that could be twice a day.” he wrote, but he also exercises. “I walk on the jogging track or inside the boat, I take a lot of steps every day.”
Daniel Donnelly wants to treat himself but has some problems with Carnival.
“I used to eat the melted chocolate cake, but on my last 4 or 5 cruises with Carnival, the melted cake didn't melt anymore. They are always overcooked. On my next cruise, I may try asking the wait staff Yes I can order it “medium or half cooked, not well done,” he shared.
Nancy Tober Wainwright likes to treat herself, but she mixes things up.
“For me, a vacation is browsing and treating yourself! I don't eat any option every day because I'm obsessed with something new and different every day,” she wrote.
Some passengers actually consider a cruise a break from their good everyday habits.
“I am very careful about what I eat at home because I am on a weight control program. But I inform my nutritionist that while I am on the ship I will tell him what I want. I know what I have to do to lose weight, because I already I have lost 45 pounds. I will return to the program once I return home and lose weight again,” shared Gayle Jankowski Wojciechowski.
Shawn Caccia advocated for moderation.
“Actually, none of the above. While I will eat each of those things at least once or twice, not every day. Too much goodness on the ship! As for counting steps, some of these ships are like walking fields of football from one end to the other! I know I'm moving forward, hahaha,” he wrote.

Diane Dirla has a mixed approach.
“It is possible to eat healthy and calm. I love vegetables and having so many to choose from, all prepared, is a pleasure! But it may be a small cone, but that ice cream has to be served most days,” she posted.
