There has been an ongoing debate among cruises when it comes to tips for years. And to be clear, I am not trying to take any side here.
The carnival, like most other cruise lines, charges a standard tip rate to guests. Currently, the rate is $ 16 per person, per day in standard cabins and $ 18 per person, per day for guests in suites. Guests can choose the tips if they wish, or will be published in their Sail & Sign (on board expenses) towards the end of the cruise.

Guests can Choose adjust or eliminate these tips before they leave the ship (which can make excessive lines in guest services on the full final day). And many passengers do it, preferring to put money directly in the hands of those who helped their vacations be pleasant.
However, it is worth noting that these tips go to the cabin attendees and dining servers, a significant portion goes to crew members who work in roles behind the scene.
In a recent publication, Carnival brand ambassador, John Heald, shared a photo of a cabin, where a guest had left the phrase “thanks etut (the name of the cabin assistant)” explained approximately $ 45 in invoices of $ 1.
Under the photo, Heald wrote: “This is something lovely to do as many of you agreed yesterday. Some do not think. Anyway, thanks for everything you do for the crew. However, you give it to him. They are really grateful. Thoughts?”

Carnival passengers share their inflection habits
In a few hours, Heald's publication received more than 500 comments. Many people applauded who left the tip in the photo, while others like to use simpler methods to tip their cabin assistant.
“I think this is wonderful! I would have done its day, ”said Jane Smyrnis. Others were not fans, including Brian Marshall Gómez, who said: “I like to put it in an envelope with a thank you note, it seems more elegant and not having to make our butler bend everywhere to collect the money.” And it is worth noting that Gomez is not the only one who pointed out that he creates more work for the room assistant compared to simply deliver money.
The follower of Heald Bobbie McDowell said: “We put $$ on a thanks card with a message. But what works for people is fine.” Similarly, Lisa Dethrow says: “I prefer to be delivered with a sincere thanks for treating us so well that we appreciate everything you have done so that our stay is the best possible.”
Others go beyond simply giving money. A unique inflection habit of Donna Earl Lay, who said: “We had a crew member that he told us once really enjoyed receiving t -shirts from our states of origin.” So we have started (along with adding tips when we reserve) we give them $ when we get there and in the end we give them a gift bag with more and a shirt. “
There is no perfect way to tip
The key conclusion is that cruises show their appreciation for the crew in several ways, and there is no perfect method. And for many, the way Dan Propina varies from cruise to cruise. For example, when I sail alone,
I am literally paying a quarter of the tip that I would pay when navigating with my four -year -old family, although the cabin assistant is doing almost the same amount of work to clean the room. Then, I tend to bow more in solo navigation situations for this reason.

The conclusion is that it is good to show its thanks to the crew of the way it feels better reflects how the cruise enjoyed. This can simply mean in advance the tip tariff of the cruise line, putting money directly in the hands of deserving crew, or some combination of tip methods.
