amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) plans to invest 10 billion euros in Germany as demand for cloud and logistics infrastructure continues to rise, the e-commerce giant said on Wednesday.
As part of its investment, amazon's IT unit, amazon Web Service (AWS), also plans to invest 8.8 billion euros. by 2026, to continue building, maintaining, and operating its cloud infrastructure for the AWS Europe (Frankfurt) region, the company amazon-plans-to-invest-10-billion-in-germany-driving-innovation-and-jobs-across-the-country” target=”_blank” class=”paywall-full-content invisible”>saying.
With this announcement, the total amount of investments planned by amazon in Germany amounts to 17.8 billion euros.
amazon, led by Andy Jassy, which has been strengthening its cloud infrastructure in Europe, added that it will create 4,000 jobs in three new fulfillment centers.
AWS was also considering parking billions of dollars in data centers in Italy, according to a Reuters report in May.
