Some cruise lines, such as Norwegian and MSC Cruises, sell cruises that are more inclusive than fully a la carte lines, including Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line.
Newer travelers don't want to miss out and that can lead to some purchasing mistakes.

Every cruise, of course, is different; What is wasteful to some may be important to others. And in some cases, items that are normally useless purchases are priced so well that they're worth it.
Royal Caribbean's The Key deal, for example, includes internet access along with early boarding, a special lunch, and a few other benefits. That's not something most passengers need, but it sometimes comes at a price close to what Internet alone costs.
At that moment, something that on its own could be waste becomes something valuable.
However, cruisers face, and can easily avoid, a number of spending pitfalls.
Life Well Cruised outlined five areas where it's easy to waste money, as shared by viewers of the popular YouTube channel.
Avoid Spending Money on These Cruise Extras

Here are five things cruise newbies waste money on, according to their fellow travelers.
Number one, buy the drink package if you are not a big drinker. If you can't drink five alcoholic drinks a day every day of your cruise, save your money by not buying the package.
Number two is to purchase spa treatments at full price. Think twice before booking spa treatments in advance. We recommend going to the spa on the first day and asking if they have any special offers, we have gotten up to 35% off.
Number three, tip twice. If you purchase anything (drinks, specialty meals, and spa treatments) on your cruise, there will already be a tip included. So keep this in mind and if you want to tip extra for amazing service, that's up to you.

Number four, purchase excursions through the cruise line. You can save money and have a more pleasant experience by booking them on your own. And for those who are worried about missing the boat, many operators have a guarantee to get you back to the boat on time.
And number five, buy photo packages. Do you really need 20 8x10s from your cruiser?
