Zilliqa, a Layer 1 blockchain, is creating a new standalone business called Roll1ng Thund3rz out of its gaming division.
Roll1ng Thund3rz to boost gaming activity on Zilliqa
in a Press release On February 13, the developers at Zilliqa said that this spin-off would likely be a “win” for the blockchain during this crypto winter.
Roll1ng Thund3rz, Zilliqa explained, marked a “significant milestone” in his quest to implement a new trading strategy.
His immediate plan is to incubate and accelerate internal businesses that demonstrate “innovative use cases of Web3 and blockchain technologies.” Roll1ng Thund3rz is part of Zilliqa’s overall long-term strategy to drive growth in all facets of its ecosystem.
Valentin Cobelea will lead Roll1ng Thund3rz. Cobelea has been in charge of the development and growth of Zilliqa’s gaming division for the past year.
Since Roll1ng Thund3rz exists as an independent company, he will be promoted to co-founder and CTO of the game. Even in this role, he will continue to serve under Zilliqa. It will be part of seeing blockchain develop an active gaming ecosystem.
The news CTO said that he expects Roll1ng Thund3rz to be the first company to crack web3 games.
“Our philosophy from day one has been to ‘build fun games first’ that leverage blockchain technology to provide genuine utility to players, not create thinly veiled financial products that masquerade as games. I am confident that our approach, along with our talented team and technical support, will make Roll1ng Thund3rz the first company to actually crack the code of Web3 games and demonstrate not only the benefits of blockchain technology for this industry, but also offer a window to what the future of gaming will be like.”

Game status, EVM support plans
Gradually Roll1ng Thund3rz will be integrated into Zilliqa. In early March, they will release a first-person shooter, WebWar3. The game is in beta and Zilliqa claims that it has over 7,000 active users.
radardapp data on February 14 showed that there are only four games in Zilliqa. The most active, DragonZil, had eight active users in the last 30 days, managing approximately $2,000 in assets.
In December 2022, Zilliqa thrown out EVM support on testnet.
