Yuga Labs Legal Victory
The RR/BAYC Collection is the similar collection run by Ryder Ripps, a creator who has a rocky history with Yuga Labs and its founders. The two have an ongoing lawsuit accusing Ripps of copyright infringement. Lehman, on the other hand, has settled with Yuga Labs and apologized to the company.
“It was never my intention to damage the Yuga Labs brand, and I reject all derogatory statements made about Yuga Labs and its founders and appreciate their many positive contributions to the NFT space,” he said.
He certainly had a lot to gain from the project that used both the initials and images from the original Bored Ape project, as he received 15% of the royalties. Along with this statement, Lehman has forfeited any right to use the Bored Ape name or likeness in the future.
Ripps, however, does not appear to be backing down on his claims against Yuga Labs and continues with his lawsuit.
