Things have changed now, and I don't think people have really captured the scope of that change. Despite all its defects, and the complete lack of personal care on the subject, a acting president has made promises to act favorably towards this space from a regulatory point of view. Obviously, many of the things that will end up being harmful to this space, and much will be favorable for other projects in addition to bitcoin.
However, we still argue and discuss as children. I am surprised how many people seemed to think that it was taken for granted that any storage of the digital asset government would include only bitcoin. Trump's campaign received money from numerous camps in this space, not only in Bitcoiners, has a history of multiple nft projects in ethereum, and does not have a deep understanding of this space or any of the technologies developed in it.
Why would bitcoin see as different from everything else in this space, except being the oldest and largest?
That is better than most of the average Americans. Most people in the United States do not even appreciate any Difference between bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. They see the whole ecosystem as a group of degenerate players and crooked experts who benefit from the players. Discussing bitcoin versus other cryptocurrencies in a reserve fund for most people is like discussing which fast food restaurant goes to. You are eating shit food, whatever happens.
All focus on these irrelevant internal arguments about Garlinghouse and Ripple, why a reserve should only be bitcoin, etc. Everyone is ignoring the much more important problem that is coming above all: their average person does not see the difference between bitcoin and everything else. .
They are going to see any Reserve reserve any general active as a complete loss of public money. A reserve will create a lot of resentment, it will be seen as the first users made to the President to pump their bags. That is the broader reality that everyone is ignoring, and one of the many reasons why I am against any type of reserve that actively accumulates bitcoin.

Politics is driven by two things, money and popular feeling. Shitcoiner's money is not going to disappear, so that leaves normal people the difference between bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Without that public support, such arguments will probably fall into deaf ears.
