According to recent Bulgarian sources, Ruja Ignatova, also known as “Cryptoqueen”, could have been murdered in November 2018.
She is the founder of the OneCoin fraudulent scheme and was last seen in Greece in 2017.
More evidence about his possible death
Secret police documents seen by the Bulgarian media revealed that the notorious Ruja Ignatova could have been brutally murdered more than four years ago. The hit man, acting on behalf of local drug lord Hristoforos Amanatidis (“Taki”), allegedly cut up her body and dumped her remains in the Ionian Sea.
“Taki” is rumored to be the leader of a criminal gang and one of the drug lords in the Eastern European region. He controls his affairs from abroad since he moved from Bulgaria after facing problems with some political parties more than a decade ago. Some reports believe that he ordered Ignatova’s assassination because he had a connection to her fraudulent OneCoin cryptocurrency project.
The “Cryptoqueen” and her creation scammed millions of people between 2014 and 2016, stealing more than $4 billion from the victims. She disappeared shortly after authorities began investigating the fraud and was last seen in Athens, Greece, in 2017.
Another theory is that Ignatova (who is including on the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list) is hiding out on a luxury yacht in the Mediterranean Sea, far offshore (where law enforcement is not authorized to arrest her).
her boyfriend goes to jail
The Southern District of New York (SDNY) Courthouse recently slapped Ignatova’s ex-boyfriend, Gilbert Armenta, with a five-year prison sentence.
Prosecutors claimed he laundered $300 million in proceeds generated from the OneCoin scam and bought luxury items for himself, including a jet plane.
Armenta also violated his deal with authorities by selling the plane, stole a $5 million check, bribed Mexican entities, and gambled with funds drained from OneCoin victims.
He pleaded guilty to money laundering, extortion and wire fraud in 2018, securing a reduced punishment. Ignatova’s former lover asked to serve his sentence at FCI Miami Federal Prison, a low-security correctional facility for male inmates. The magistrates have yet to decide on that request.
