Thanks to a recent partnership between sesame workshop and Tissue, a digital collection platform, Cookie Monster NFT is ready to hit the digital streets for the first time. Fans of Sesame Street and the adorable blue puppet can purchase these NFTs in the VeVe digital collectibles app starting March 19.
Incredibly, this release is the first of many to come from this collaboration. According to Sesame Workshop, several additional Sesame Street collectibles are coming later in the year. However, it is not clear if they will still be based on Cookie Monster or if they will feature other popular characters from the adorable children’s show like Elmo, Big Bird, Bert, Grover, Oscar the Grouch and many others.
Both parties involved in the deal seem quite satisfied with the collaboration. In a statement, Jennifer Ahearn, Sesame Workshop’s vice president of global strategic partnerships and themed entertainment, notes: “Collaborating with VeVe to [Sesame Street’s] first collection of digital collectibles is a great way to celebrate [the series’] lasting legacy and give our longtime fans a new way to show their love for Sesame Street and its characters.”
Cookie Monster NFTs will be sold through the VeVe mobile app
VeVe has been around since 2018, serving as a mobile first platform for digital collectibles. So far, it has partnered with Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, DC Comics, and Warner Bros. to offer its licensed collectibles. These items can be accessed through the VeVe app, which is available on both the Google Play Store and the App Store. So far, more than 8 million collectibles have been sold through the app.
Commenting on the partnership, Dan Crothers, Co-Founder and COO of VeVe, notes: “Sesame Street is one of the most iconic brands of all time, so we jumped at the opportunity to partner with Sesame Workshop on a series of digital collectibles.” Before adding, “We can’t wait to share them with our community of VeVe collectors, as well as Sesame Street fans who may be new to digital collecting.”
