Ubisoft, the company behind global video game hits like Assassin's Creed and Just Dance, has officially partnered with the XPLA network, taking on the role of node validator.
The collaboration was announced at XPLA. Half page. Its goal is to consolidate Ubisoft's forward-looking stance on blockchain technology through its Strategic Innovation Lab and mark a leap towards the interconnection of gaming and blockchain spaces.
XPLA will benefit from partnership with Ubisoft
According to the announcement, by joining the XPLA ecosystem, Ubisoft will leverage its extensive experience in game development to ensure that transactions and data on the network are secure and validated efficiently.
This partnership could enrich the XPLA ecosystem, known for its dedication to becoming a leading content hub focused on digital media and gaming.
The network, powered by the Tendermint blockchain engine and its Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) consensus, hosts popular crypto games including Summoners War and The Walking Dead.
With Ubisoft entering the validation scene, the network should benefit from improved performance, security, and an increase in transparency, thanks to collaboration with other notable validators and developers such as Animoca Brands, Google Cloud, and Com2uS.
According to the announcement, Ubisoft will contribute beyond its immediate role to governance proposal decisions, representing a deeper commitment to the future of the network.
Paul Kim, XPLA team leader, expressed his excitement about Ubisoft's inclusion, envisioning a future where collaboration drives the creation of a more transparent and trustworthy web3 ecosystem that universally engages gamers.
Together, we will cooperate to create a more transparent and trustworthy Web3 ecosystem, striving to provide an engaging gaming experience to players around the world.

A history of blockchain participation
Ubisoft's blockchain journey began in 2018 with the exploration of blockchain gaming and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), marked by a series of investments and strategic partnerships in that space.
In October 2023, Ubisoft expanded its blockchain efforts by joining the Cronos network as a validator. This participation not only expanded the network's decentralization, but also underlined Ubisoft's commitment to further exploring nft gaming.
The company has played a pioneering role in integrating NFTs into major video game titles, including introducing in-game nft items in “Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.”
In November 2023, it also partnered with Immutable, laying the foundation for innovative products that redefine gaming experiences. The partnership was built around the promise of bringing “digital ownership” into the hands of gamers, hinting at Ubisoft's continued exploration of NFTs.
Ubisoft is also actively running validators on networks such as Tezos and Hedera, showing its ambition to lead the convergence of gaming and blockchain technology.
