Former President and Republican front-runner Donald Trump and his campaign announced Tuesday that they will begin accepting cryptocurrency donations. This is the first time a major American political party has adopted digital currencies for campaign donations.
The Trump campaign introduced a fundraising page that allows federally authorized donors to contribute using any cryptocurrency accepted on the Coinbase platform.
This can be seen as a sign of Trump's growing embrace of financial technology and his continued stance on reducing government control over individual financial decision-making. Trump's new stance contrasts sharply with the views of Democratic leaders such as Senator Elizabeth Warren, who Trump says is building an “anti-crypto army” to restrict individual choices.
All contribution limits and disclosure requirements for crypto donations must be consistent with Federal Election Commission regulations. Followers can visit crypto” target=”_blank” rel=””>https://www.donaldjtrump.com/crypto to make a donation.
