Main museum of French art, The Pompidou Center, is set to showcase the best NFT artwork starting this spring. The announcement was made on February 10 by the museum through its official Twitter account. The goal is to cater to the rapidly growing Web3 art space where blockchain intersects with art in the form of non-fungible tokens.
The Pompidou Center acquires a set of works dealing with the relationship between blockchain and artistic creation, including its first NFTs! 👾

For starters, the museum will display art from more than 16 digital artists from around the world. Some popular names include CryptoPunks and Autoglyph. The first has offered to donate CryptoPunk #110 and the second, Autoglyph #25; both will be available for fans of Web3 artwork to enjoy.
According to Xavier Rey, director of the French National Museum of Modern Art, the Pompidou Center is “pursuing his interest in digital art in relation to the blockchain.”
He goes on to add that “Web 3 is innovative territory that artists have now tapped into to create original and daring works, and this collection reaffirms our support for artists in their conquest of new means of expression, which is the foundation of modern art.”
The exhibition marks the first time that NFT will be on display at the Center Pompidou. The museum houses some masterpieces by world-renowned artists such as Vassily Kandinsky, Henri Matisse, and Frida Kahlo.
Larva Labs, the platform behind Autoglyph #25, is happy to see the museum’s offer to exhibit one of his NFT masterpieces.
The Pompidou Center benefits from the Legacy de Yuga project
According to Yuga Labs, the donation is part of its legacy project, which aims to give Punks for free to leading art institutions around the world who wish to showcase Web3 artwork. So far, the company has already donated CryptoPunk #305 to the Miami Institute of Contemporary Art.
Commenting on the latest donation, Greg Solano, co-founder of Yuga Labs, notes that “Seeing CryptoPunk #110 on display at the Center Pompidou, arguably the world’s most prestigious contemporary art museum, is a great moment for the Web3 and NFT ecosystem, and we’re honored to help drive this cultural conversation forward.”
It just goes to show how quickly the Web3 art space is developing, and is now gaining the kind of attention it deserves.
