Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and Swiss luxury watch maker Hublot have joined forces to present a collection of NFT-related watches. In fact, this is their fourth artistic collaboration, taking inspiration from Japanese video games and TV shows from the 1970s. The NFTs also take inspiration from the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black watch released in 2021.
Murakami X Hublot debuting in Geneva?
The collection will debut at the 2023 Watches & Wonders trade show in Geneva, featuring 13 unique NFTs, each linked to a physical watch. Additionally, these digital replicas feature a unique rainbow hue and feature Murakami’s signature smiling flower emblem. However, only collectors who previously purchased one of the 324 NFTs released by Murakami and hublot you can buy these watches.
Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Black Ceramic Rainbow?
The latest watch in the collection is the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Black Ceramic Rainbow. It shows a rotating flower studded with precious gems. Until April 2024, all 12 NFTs can be resold on OpenSea. If a collector manages to acquire all 12 NFTs, he will have the opportunity to purchase the coveted watch. On the other hand, if not, Hublot will sell the watch at auction to raise money for charity. murakami has a rich history with NFT, including his March 2021 Murakami Flowers collection and collaborations with Nike-owned digital wearable tech studio RTFKT and Nike’s Cryptokicks NFT sneaker, which sold for 45 ETH or $134,000.
