Blockchain developer Mysten Labs has opened pre-orders for its SuiPlay0X1 handheld gaming device, the first device to integrate the Sui blockchain, offering a web3-enabled gaming experience.
Mysten Labs, the developer behind the Sui blockchain, has launched pre-orders for its new handheld gaming console, the SuiPlay0X1, according to a Sept. 2 release. report from Venture Beat.
Powered by Playtron’s device-agnostic gaming OS, the SuiPlay0X1 features an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U CPU, AMD Ryzen 780M GPU, 16GB of DRAM, and a 512GB SSD with expandable storage.
The device also features a 7-inch bezel-less IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Weighing 677 grams, the SuiPlay0X1 is expected to be comparable to the popular Steam Deck, another gaming console developed by Valve.
SuiPlay0X1 will be delivered in 2025
The SuiPlay0X1, which is priced at $600 plus shipping and taxes, can be purchased with cryptocurrencies such as Sui (SUI), ethereum (eth), or Solana (SOL). Pre-orders are open until all available units are sold, and the first thousand customers will receive a soul-linked non-fungible token that grants special access, rewards, and perks, the report said. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2025.
While it remains to be seen what blockchain features the console will have, it is understood that the device will support default PC games from platforms such as Epic Games and Steam, and will also host Sui-powered games.
This launch by Mysten Labs is part of a broader trend of blockchain companies entering the gaming sector.
