In commemoration of the 25 of Final Fantasy VIIhe anniversary, Square Enix will launch a set of NFTs linked to the role-playing video game. Dubbed The Final Fantasy VII Anniversary Art Museum Digital Card Plus, the collection features 200 works of art that can be collected physically and digitally.
According to the official announcement, the cards come in physical boxes, with each set containing 20 card packs. Each pack contains six physical stickers randomly selected from a pool of 207 unique designs. In addition, each package includes an exchange ticket that holders will be able to redeem for a digital or NFT card of their choice.
Square Enix partners with Enjin to launch NFT
To make the digital collecting process easier, Square Enix has partnered with Enjin, a blockchain network that focuses on gaming and NFTs. With the purchase of each physical pack, customers receive a redeemable ticket that can be redeemed for an NFT. Fans are presented with a wide selection of 207 distinct designs to choose from. To get their preferred digital card, all they need to do is download the Enjin wallet app, create an account on the Enjin NFT platform, and redeem the exchange ticket.
Launched in 2003, Square Enix is one of the leading game development platforms behind popular titles like Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean, Final Fantasy, and many others. Lately, the company has shifted its focus towards NFTs as part of its Web3 strategy to engage with its fans on a deeper level.
Last month, Square Enix partnered with Polygon to launch a gamified art collecting experience called Symbiogenesis. The sale of the collection will take place this spring and will offer collectors “a unique experience built around digital collectible art that is linked to a story.”
