He WWF Germany and savespecies have joined forces to launch “SaveYour.World”, an innovative metaverse platform that uses the polygon power to tackle the growing problem of plastic waste in the oceans. Through the “play to donate” concept with Trash NFT, WWF Deutschland hopes to create a new way to raise awareness about the problem of ocean plastic pollution. It is estimated that 8 million metric tons of plastic enters the ocean each year, and by 2025, the amount of plastic entering the ocean will double.
SaveYour.World offers an immersive experience that combines online and offline action with tangible results. The entire metaverse on the highly efficient server infrastructure developed by Journee. To conserve energy and reduce your carbon footprint, while preventing further pollution, the metaverse limits the number of concurrent users. As a result, individual visitors may experience wait times. However, this approach saves more energy than providing more capacity through additional servers.

Their native ‘Trash NFT’ collectibles are a form of digital art that can be collected and traded, but also have real world impact. His Trash Whale, for example, is made up of 366 NFTs of 50 different types and shows how each of the human-made plastics affects the environment. By owning this NFT, owners become part of the solution to ocean pollution and play a role in preserving the health of our ocean.
So far, the results of this innovative platform have been encouraging, with 2,453 kg of plastic removed from the ocean. Visitors have the option to donate through the integrated donation columns to the following institutions: WWF, Savespecies or World Cleanup Day, with 100% of the donation going to their respective causes. As an artist collective, for every sale of Trash NFT, Savespecies retains 30% of the profits, while the remaining funds are donated to WWF Germany. The environmental non-governmental organization then uses the funds to finance plastic reduction projects, such as beach and coral cleanups on the island of Phu Quoc in Vietnam.
polygon to save the world
By constantly researching and using the power of blockchain and Web3 technology, the Polygon network has shown that it has the potential to help solve major environmental problems. In 2020, Polygon Labs started a study on emissions and how Layer 1 and Layer 2 blockchain operations interact with each other.
Polygon is also building a climate offset vertical within its ecosystem and has pledged $20 million for a number of community initiatives, including funding projects that use technology to combat climate change. Although Web3 and blockchain technology are still in their early stages, they have great potential to help solve the environmental crisis we are facing right now.
