Reddit's r/cryptocurrency and Unstoppable Domains launch .MOON blockchain domain

Reddit's r/cryptocurrency community, with 8.8 million users, has partnered with Unstoppable Domains to launch .MOON, Reddit's first community-based blockchain domain.

The new domain, built on the Polygon blockchain, allows members of the Reddit crypto community to establish digital identities and interact with more than 865 blockchain applications and wallets.

“At r/cryptocurrency we have always been focused on community empowerment, and the launch of .MOON domains is the next big step in that journey,” said John Murphy, Treasurer of MOON DAO.

The .MOON domain allows users to send and receive cryptoassets and nfts while creating unique digital profiles.

It integrates with the Unstoppable Domains ecosystem, providing access to decentralized applications and exclusive collectible badges.

Sandy Carter, chief operating officer of Unstoppable Domains, said the company is dedicated to integrating diverse projects into its ecosystem.

He highlighted how the r/cryptocurrency community can now extend its unique energy to the on-chain space, going beyond Reddit to reach new users through decentralized applications.

The r/cryptocurrency subreddit joins 30 other on-chain organizations, including Blockchain.com and Pudgy Penguins, in preparation for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) general round of top-level domain applications. of 2026.

Although Reddit has moved away from crypto projects, the r/crypto community continues to drive innovation.

After Reddit relinquished control of Moons smart contracts, the community took over the project.
