Two powerhouses in blockchain gaming, Immutable and Polygon, have joined their considerable forces to spearhead the industry’s next big push. The joint effort is aimed at accelerating the development and adoption of Web3 games and making it easier for studios and developers to create high-quality Web3 games that are compatible with “true ownership of assets”.
Now, game developers will be able to take advantage of Immutable zkEVM, a new Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible zero-knowledge rollup powered by Polygon, to develop Web3 games. As a result, it facilitates an out-of-the-box game development process that is faster, easier, and with less risk involved.
In a statement, Robbie Ferguson, co-founder and president of Immutable, notes: “By combining the #1 web3 gaming platform, currently serving hundreds of game studios and millions of gamers, with Polygon’s best-in-class zkEVM technology, we are building an Ethereum-centric gaming ecosystem that is poised to take the web3 mainstream and bring the digital. owned by millions of people around the world.
Ferguson goes on to add that “Billions of dollars worth of masks are sold every year with no rights to the players.” It is the reason the two entities came together to change this narrative. As a result, fostering an industry that allows players to control and own their in-game assets.

Immutable and Polygon Labs aim to grow the Web3 gaming space
Ryan Wyatt, president of Polygon Labs, echoes this sentiment, noting: “Partnering with Immutable is a monumental step in our mission to empower developers and allow users to truly own their in-game assets. By leveraging Immutable’s superior world-class gaming platform, game development becomes seamless, enabling the creation of rich and unique gaming experiences.”
The collaboration comes at a time when both companies are pushing to grow the Web3 gaming space. Last June, Immutable launched a $500 million venture fund for the development of Web3 games. While in July, Polygon launched a business unit dedicated to advancing Web3 games.
