Oscar-winning filmmakers Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton plan to raise funds for their latest documentary using the power of web3 and NFT. “Sticks and Shelter” is the story of recovering addict and former professional drummer, Micky Donnovan. The story follows his life at the Macari Center for the Homeless run by Manchester United legend Lou Macari. The duo launches the campaign on the popular web3 media company Paus.tv.

NFTs are leading a new era of fundraising for content-based media and projects. The story of “Sticks and Shelters” takes place in the midst of a troubled Britain. Amid economic disparity and a homelessness crisis, the documentary tells the story of hope and friendship. Additionally, the team at Slick Films (writer Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton) teamed up with Paus.tv to raise $50,000 using NFT as the driving force for the campaign. NFTs are spread over 4 tiers, with each tier also unlocking exclusive rewards and revenue sharing for contributors.
The campaign has already started working since January 30 for a limited time. Paus drives the charge for this unique fundraiser to bring the documentary “Sticks and Shelter” to life. By endorsing the project, collectors are not only supporting the film, but also the Macari Foundation directly.
“Stoke-on-Trent often gets media attention for all the wrong reasons, and while Monkey Dust (a terrible synthetic drug) has a tight grip on the city… That bleak description doesn’t tell the whole story,” says Rachel Shenton. “While Sticks & Shelter proves that addiction and loneliness don’t discriminate, it’s also a hopeful story of friendship, love and music.”
Chris Overton adds: “One of the biggest driving forces behind Sticks & Shelter is seeing Micky’s lost passion
so that music and drums are revived at rare moments. My hope is that with the support of Lou Macari
and a concert deadline, Mickey might get another chance.”
