spanish director Miguel Faus successfully raised $750,000 to create the world’s first nft-funded European film, ‘The Quiet Maid’, before recently securing a global sales deal with Ibero-American entertainment powerhouse FilmSharks during the Iberseries conference in Madrid.
Initially 15 minutes long and titled ‘Calladita’, The Quiet Maid renews the story of a Colombian maid who works for a wealthy Spanish family in Catalonia.
The film’s success story is based on Faus’ novel financing plan of using the original 15-minute short film to sell nft passes. Calladita NFTs, which attracted more than 600 investors to the film’s projects, granted behind-the-scenes access and assigned control of the film’s future profits through a DAO.
Further aiding the film’s production was a $100,000 investment from ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ fame director Steven Soderbergh along with Decentralized Pictures in January.

Setting the stage for premieres and exclusive rewards
In addition to securing international sales rights with FilmSharks and a significant amount of funding through NFTs and other notable investments, The Quiet Maid film is gearing up for its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia next month, competing for an award in the ‘First Feature’ category.
Additionally, the official Quiet Maid trailer is now available, offering nft enthusiasts and movie buffs the chance to win exclusive Calladita NFTs. All interested parties need to do is identify the virtual assets hidden in the short film clip posted on Twitter and like the tweet and share it.
The Quiet Maid highlights an energetic adventure in both its storytelling and creation process and rewards, placing Faus center stage as a filmmaker and pioneer in blockchain-powered cinema. Filmmakers can take inspiration from how The Quiet Maid combines creativity with capital through nft initiatives. Another nft-funded movie to watch out for is ‘bottle crash‘.
