Unveiled at the Sui Basecamp event in Paris, the partnership aims to establish a mass market for web3 games and comes amid a growing trend toward blockchain integration into games like Ordz Games' recently announced bitcoin-enabled BitBoy.
The device will run PlaytronOS, a gaming operating system compatible with various hardware configurations, allowing access to multiple game stores, including Steam and Epic Games Store, through a unified launcher.
Source: SuiSuiPlay0X1, scheduled for global launch in 2025, will feature native web3 capabilities, integrating Sui's blockchain technology for asset ownership directly linked to the device's account system.
Kirt McMaster, CEO of Playtron, shared: “We are creating a new gaming operating system ideal for unlocking the PC. Effectively, we are trying to extract the Windows PC gaming ecosystem and recontextualize it in our own operating system.”
With partnerships already secured with several game developers, Mysten Labs aims to ensure a diverse range of games for SuiPlay 0X1 users.
Adeniyi Abiodun, chief product officer at Mysten Labs, also added: “We've been looking at how to bring this to market, but we think there's a need to have a device that makes sense, where people can really value the utility and everything.” the benefits they can get from ownership, the incentives and how they can have a better ownership experience in everything they do online.”
