Members of linksDAO, a decentralized autonomous organization made up of golf enthusiasts, voted to buy a Scottish golf course following an NFT-based fundraising event launched last year. If the purchase goes through, it will mark the first acquisition by the decentralized community that launched early last year.
LinksDAO aims “owning one of the best golf courses in the world,” their main focus being the US However, when Spey Bay Golf Club was put up for sale, DAO members realized they had to act fast if they were to secure their first course. The course is priced at $900,000. That’s an amount that shouldn’t bother LinksDAO after raising $10.4 million selling 9,090 NFT-based membership tokens when it launched.
Spey Bay is located on the Moray coast in Scotland and has been described as a “Lovely course.” However, as Robin Hiseman, a golf course architect, points out, “The course has been overlooked by the golf world.”

LinksDAO members see this as a great opportunity
More than 88% of members voted in favor of the acquisition, with less than 9% against. One member who approves of the purchase, Postingthistime, noted in a community chat, “If we let this opportunity pass, we may not get another one like it.” Before adding, “I have no doubt that a great world golf network should have a Scottish course, as it is the birthplace of golf.”
That said, voting on the matter ended on February 22, then negotiations began, which are expected to take up to two months before the deal is sealed.
