Twitter’s integration of crypto and NFT is frequently a subject of speculation, particularly when the social network’s CEO, Elon Musk, replaces the Twitter logo with that of Dogecoin before sharing an NFT of Punk 6529.
Speculations about Twitter NFT
The Dogecoin token price surged more than 33% this Tuesday after the well-known image of the Shiba Inu dog replaced the traditional blue bird. What’s even more intriguing is that Elon Musk shared an NFT of Punk 6529 with the message: “Take advantage of production memes.”
Unsurprisingly, this sparked numerous comments. On Twitter, Xero, a Web3 gaming specialist with over 16,000 followers, posted a tweet speculating on the imminent launch of Twitter NFT.
“Is Elon hinting at Twitter NFTs? Let’s look at the timeline: 1. Elon removed the blue check mark from the New York Times 2. Musk then changed the Twitter icon to an image of Doge 3. And he just shared a JPEG of an NFT created by 6529. Are we taking control of the information? Xero tweeted. He added that he would share more about this theory later.
Who is Punk6529?
Even Beeple, the most renowned NFT artist, created a piece of art inspired by Elon Musk’s tweet and shared it on Twitter. 6529 immediately retweeted it. Currently, there is no further information about a possible collaboration between the prominent owner of CryptoPunks and Twitter.
6529 is a significant figure in the NFT space, followed by more than 447 thousand people on Twitter. In addition to his online presence, he actively supports the development of an open metaverse. Consequently, he createdABOUT“, a metaverse with the aim of “uniting virtual and physical spaces that people use in their daily lives”.
This is not the first time that Elon Musk has shown interest in Web3 and cryptocurrencies. While it’s challenging to predict what the capricious CEO will do, there’s a chance that Web3 and NFT apps will make their way to the social network in the future. Twitter NFTs could one day become a reality.
