Leading NFT Gaming Protocol immutable X is ready to release an all-access passport that will make it easy for players to onboard Web3. Dubbed ‘Immutable Passport’, the tool will serve as a non-custodial wallet, player profile and authentication solution for users. In this sense, it is similar to an Xbox Gametag or Apple ID, where users do not require a password to sign in.
As a non-custodial wallet, the tool will not hold user private keys and will not participate in signing transactions. That being said, Immutable Passport will allow gamers access to a suite of system-integrated tools such as a secure digital wallet, fraud protection, and seamless authentication in Web3 games and marketplaces.
The passport seeks to address the core issues affecting various gaming companies within the Web3 realm. In a press release, ImmutableX notes that “Customer research by the ImmutableX team found that ease of onboarding, security, compliance, and plug-and-play features were top priorities for development studios integrating Web3 components into their games.”
Therefore, the passport should help Web3 game studios. “Drive adoption among core audiences, maintain enterprise-grade security, and access analytics from significant players.” Also, when a studio integrates with the tool, they will have access to active players in the ecosystem of the protocol.

When does the immutable passport expire?
The tool will debut in April and the entire ImmutableX team is eagerly awaiting the release. According to Robbie Ferguson, president and co-founder of ImmutableX, the passport is necessary if “Web3 gaming is reaching a billion players”. So it will help with onboarding in a visible and secure way. Also, it will “works on any game – mobile, console, or desktop.”
He goes on to add that “Passport is a self-custody wallet, where users can sign in with just an email and a one-time password; it will be a game changer for gamers and radically reduce user acquisition costs.”
The arrival of Immutable Passport is very well received by the rapidly developing Web3 gaming space. Last August, the space was able to raise over $700 million to fund the development of Web3 games using NFTs.
