With the update, Shopify merchants using the Solana Pay plugin can now accept cryptocurrencies, taking advantage of real-time conversion and settlement via stablecoins. These include USDC and EURC from Circle and PYUSD from PayPal. The plugin also supports Ondo Finance's USDY tokenized note.
Solana Pay also integrates with top wallets like Phantom, Solfire, Coinbase, and OKX.
Helio believes the update has the ability to help “onboard millions of merchants into crypto commerce,” completely transforming e-commerce payments.
Improvements in user experience and improved customer loyalty programs are a crucial aspect of this growth. Solana stands out as the ideal blockchain network for this journey.
“Cryptocurrency holders represent a rapidly growing global consumer segment, with more than 100 million active wallets. Solana, with its low fees and fast transactions, is ideal for consumer payments,” said Stijn Paumen, co-founder and CEO of Helio. “
“Shopify merchants can now easily reach this audience by installing Solana Pay with a few clicks to accept USDC and hundreds of other digital assets at low fees. Enabling the largest e-commerce platform to accept faster crypto payments than card payments is an important step towards mass adoption of crypto payments,” Paumen added.
Merchants Take Advantage of crypto Payments with Low Fees
Adoption of the plugin has increased amid the growth of the Web3 payments industry, particularly within the stablecoin market. Interest could now increase with the update enabling advanced features like nfts, loyalty programs, and receipts and tickets.
Solana Pay, which allows Shopify merchants to accept crypto payments with low fees (0.75% fee), saw nearly $50 million in transactions in its previous version.
According to Helio, the transactions spanned 200 stores and merchants saved more than $1 million in fees.
Brands already using the new Solana Pay plugin include Helium Mobile and FSL (STEPN GO, MOOAR).
