Video game giants Square Enix reveal the details of their first web3 game: Symbiogenesis. The interactive project is hosted on the Polygon network for a seamless experience. Symbiogenesis is an upcoming “Web3 digital collectible art interactive experience”. Read on to learn how Square Enix melds collectible artwork and actual game utility.
What is Square Enix’s Symbiogenesis game?
Polygon Labs announced its collaboration with leading game developers Square Enix earlier this week. The Symbiogenesis web3 game will be released in spring 2023. It offers unique experiences around digital collectibles with an attached overarching story. The story is revealed as players explore a “autonomous world” and evolves with every strategic move a player makes. Set on a mysterious floating continent, players discover new information and other unique stories. These tales are based on the digital collectibles or collections they have.
To add to this, players can learn more about the world and its inhabitants by holding and trading their NFTs and completing various quests. “Symbiogenesis was built from the ground up on the blockchain and is designed to provide an exceptional experience for both community building and trading.”, says Naoyuki Tamate, producer of Symbiogenesis, at Square Enix. “Square Enix chose to take advantage of Polygon’s high transaction speeds, low gas fees, and overall ease of use to bring this unique experience to Web3 fans.”
The game also has a variety of utility items. Initially, they would be traded off-chain, which can then be traded on-chain on the Polygon network. Square Enix is also planning a series of campaigns along the way to help introduce potential players to this unique project. In addition, leveraging the Polygon network allows Square Enix to ensure that symbiogenesis it is highly sustainable. This is due to Polygon’s carbon neutral status, plus the added benefits of Ethereum’s secure and decentralized framework.
