Specialized Layer 2 Ethereum Wallet BLS Wallet launched an integration with Ethereum’s layer 2 protocol smart contract layer Metis (METIS), which promises fee-free transactions.
In an announcement shared with Crypto.News, the new integration will make it easier for web 2.0 users to onboard the web 3.0 application. This will be achieved through pre-funded transactions that are free to the end user and social key recovery, which reduces the consequences of private key mishandling, among other things.
Developers using the Metis ecosystem can freely switch between BLS Wallet or regular transactions and easily onboard Web 2.0 users through gasless transactions that make interactions more similar to traditional web interface interactions without the participation of digital assets.
The protocol also allows for signature aggregation, which results in many transactions being processed as one large transaction to save costs.
All of those features together result in what James Zaki, project lead at BLS Wallet and a scale and privacy explorations group, calls “account abstraction.”
“Account abstraction will change the way users experience Web3.”
James Zaki, project leader at BLS Wallet.
BLS wallet is part of privacy and scalability explorations equipment supported by the Ethereum Foundation.
The announcement follows the valuation of competing wallet Blocto Wallet rising 700% following its Series A funding round, which saw participation from notable investors like Mark Cuban and 500 Global.
