The second installation of decentralized Metaverse Fashion Week will take place at the end of this March. The four-day event will take place from March 28-31 and will build on last year’s successful debut. However, this year, Decentraland, the brands and other stakeholders involved will try something different.
This year’s event is themed “Future Heritage”. Therefore, attendees can expect to see the opening of a new fashion plaza that will focus on showcasing emerging designers. The goal is to highlight and foster collaborations between established brands and these emerging talents.
According to Giovanna Casimiro, a Metaverse producer for Decentraland in charge of its fashion week, this is a way of “bring a more critical discussion about the future of fashion” and connects the dots between innovation, legacy and tradition.
Metaverse Fashion Week will highlight interoperability
In addition, the topic of interoperability will be deepened. The previous event did not feature much joint work between various Metaverses. However, the developers at Decentraland have worked on this feature and this year’s Metaverse Fashion Week “It will demonstrate the potential for interoperability between open metaverses and push the boundaries of what digital fashion can mean.”
Casimiro notes, “One of the core values of the first edition was trying to unite designers and expand the aesthetics and possibilities of brands. So after the first edit, we decided to cross metaverses.”
She goes on to add, “When we talk about extending interoperability, we’re really starting to collaborate with other universes and metaverses to create an agenda. [that’s] multi platform.”
So far, Decentraland has collaborated with other Metaverses such as Spatial and Over, the latter specializing in AR technology and having previously collaborated with Decentraland on a cross-platform handheld design competition.
