An NFT influencer using the pseudonym Cosomo de’ Medici has donated 22 Web3 artworks to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The influencer made the announcement on February 14 through his official Twitter account. The artwork features creations by 13 digital artists, including Dmitri Cherniak, a generative artist, and NFT pioneers Larva Labs.
in a twitter thread, de’ Medici notes that he hopes the donation will highlight the importance of digital art pieces, which will now have the opportunity to sit next to legendary works by renowned artists such as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and Georgia O’Keefe. In a press release, the influencer, whom many suspect to be Snoop Dogg, a longtime fan of Web3 and NFT, notes:
“With this gift, my goal was to help unite the worlds of chain art and contemporary art, which until now existed separately. I am delighted to have these historically significant chain works placed in context alongside many iconic works of art in the LACMA collection.”

The donation, which includes a valuable CryptoPunks NFT, has been enthusiastically received by LACMA. Michael Govan, executive director of the museum, points out that this donation allows them to show the intersection of art and technology.
“We are grateful to Cozomo de’ Medici for his forward-thinking generosity that will expand the diversity of our art collection and spur us to develop new standards and techniques to preserve works created on the blockchain.”
Cozomo de’ Medici’s donation follows a growing trend of NFT exhibits in art museums
The NFT influencer’s donation to the museum is the latest in a growing trend of digital artwork being displayed in physical art installations. Last week, the Pompidou Center was the beneficiary of two valuable donations.
