The power of art Christie's concluded its first bitcoin Ordinals Online Auction yesterday, presenting four collections from the Ordinals Maxi Biz (OMB) series.
Recognized in the digital art market, the OMB series frequently ranks in the top five in market capitalization for bitcoin nfts. It includes a limited edition of 5,141 works and has a market capitalization of approximately $53.4 million (856.80 btc).
Artworks up for auction included 'Red, Blue, Green, and Orange Eye OMB Set', 'Artists Journal' and 'This is Me' by Tony Tafuro, along with 'Recording in Progress' by Berkin Bags.
Although the anticipated high prices fell short, each item generated significant global interest from collectors and sold for an attractive total of $10.730,800.

Christie's auction started at $100 each and received bids in both USD and btc, merging traditional art sales with modern digital transactions.
The highlight was the OMB set of red, blue, green and orange eyes, comprising boldly colored hand-drawn artwork. The collection sold for $441,000, just shy of its hefty estimate of $450,000 to $650,000.
Additionally, 'The Artist's Journal', a two-page spread from Tony Tafuro's lockdown 2020 studio notebook, sold for $75,600. While this is still a good amount of change, it was well below the projection of between $120,000 and $180,000.
Tafuro's other piece, 'This is Me,' a digital self-portrait that captures mood and energy, sold for $126,000, slightly below its goal of $150,000.
Finally, Berkin Bags' 'Recording in Progress', which reflects the dynamic nature of web3 and bitcoin through themes of surveillance and innovation, sold for $88,200, below its expected range of $100,000 to $150,000.
Given the hype surrounding the upcoming bitcoin Halving Event and the introduction of the Rune Protocolnumerous art enthusiasts expected these OMB works to meet Christie's standards.forecasted prices.
Still, despite failing to achieve their ambitious price targets, each piece attracted significant global attention and generous sums, emphasizing the continued appeal of crypto art entering traditional auction spaces as pivotal milestones focused on bitcoin.
