Five University of The Bahamas students each won $10,000 for their digital art and music creations as part of the university's nft Digital Arts Project, sponsored by Snoop Dogg's son, Cordell Broadus.
According to a Bahamian media report nft-digital-art-project-ideas/” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow”>Eyewitness NewsThe University of The Bahamas announced the student winners of its Digital Arts Projects with non-fungible tokens on October 7. Each student receives a $10,000 prize for their nft creations.
Three students won awards in the Visual Arts category, while two other students won in the Music category.
The project is funded by the UB Champ Medici Arts Fund Scholarship Award. The collaboration involved Cordell Broadus, son of American rapper Snoop Dogg, and the Tezos Foundation (XTZ). The prize was first established in March 2024 with an initial donation of $100,000.
In an interview with Eyewitness News, one of the students who won in the Music category said that he was able to learn more about nft technology by participating in the competition.
The CMAF is a $1 million philanthropic fund started by Cordell Broadus in partnership with the Tezos Foundation. Its goal was to support emerging musicians and artists from around the world who want to build and create new creative and cultural works on the Tezos blockchain.
In a report of Our mediaCMAF said the nft competition was just the beginning of its contribution to the university's arts and music programs. CMAF and the Tezos Foundation will also provide educational tutorials, materials, and guidance for students on how they can use the Tezos blockchain to mint, trade, and sell their nft works.
The joint initiative also plans to provide the university with relevant equipment and technology so that students can pursue digital art and music initiatives in the future.
