Who is Astroboy?
Astro Boy is an android boy with human emotions and the protagonist of a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Osamu Tezuka. He first appeared in an anime that aired between 1952 and 1968. In the story, the robot’s birth date is April 7, 2003.
In the narrative, Astro Boy is created by Umataro Tenma following the recent death of his son, Tobio. A robot circus run by Hamegg eventually buys Astro out, but Professor Ochanomizu rescues him from servitude. Eventually, the scientist creates a robotic family for Astro. Naturally, the couple embarks on many adventures together.
The aesthetic of the manga series has inspired generations of manga authors. In fact, Osamu Tezuka’s style now defines the “anime” style. For example, the author was one of the first to adorn his characters with big eyes. In addition, he popularized the Disney-influenced “cartoonish” style in Japan.
While NFTs are gaining popularity in Japan, the ATOM Genesis collection will undoubtedly attract many collectors. More than 70 years after he first appeared in a manga, Astro Boy is far from an outdated robot.
