While the platform is open to anyone looking to implement a generative art contract to their standards, an undeniable upper echelon of artists and projects has organically formed. Here are ten of the most notable projects to familiarize yourself with if you’re looking to get involved.
As fxhash’s all-time leader in sales volume, of Zancan magnum opus has become the platform’s top-tier standard bearer. The French generative artist launched Garden, monoliths as their debut on fxhash in December 2021. Since then, the project has ascended to grail status, regularly being compared to that of Art Blocks. Trust in terms of its critical acclaim and coveted nature among collectors. For those without five figures to deposit at one of the 256 mints, the memorable Zancan (kinder)Garden, Monuments collaboration with Yazid, and his popular and glitchy A buggy Foresyou raid is also worth exploring.
That Chromie doodles it’s for art blocks, RGB Elemental Cellular Automaton it’s fxhash. Created by the founder of fxhash code, the 1000-piece collection was the second project to be minted on the platform, and its side royalties even helped fxhash stay independent during its early days. Given its history and importance, it’s no surprise that the project has become a beloved symbol of the fxhash community. Even leading artist Zancan did one of his PFPs in early 2023.

With six fxhash projects and one Art Blocks Curated release to their credit, Marcelo Soria-Rodriguez he has become a key artist to watch in generative art. Launched in November 2021 as a series of 773 mints, counterpoints it was his first long-form generative work and remains in the top ten fxhash projects by sales volume of all time. The impressive project also had a philanthropic element, as 25% of the proceeds from the primary sale went to Project Lighthouse to support self-sustaining communities in impoverished regions through youth empowerment.
One of the most exciting emerging artists in the world of generative art, Tyler Boswell (aka teaboswell) is ready to build on the momentum of its big year in 2022. Less than two weeks after its launch, its flagship project September had totaled secondary sales equal to its overall products, a feat that only a handful of projects have achieved and that normally takes more than five months. Two months later, Boswell was one of three artists selected for the Tezos live minting activation at the Art Basel Miami Beach fair. Pro Tip: Try to see a September output in live mode, where it will continuously redraw a new output every few seconds using the same basic parameters with slight variations. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.
The feelings of loneliness and desolation are palpable in Iskra VelitchkovaStark fxhash’s debut uninhabitable. The Bulgarian generative artist (aka pointline) built the December 2021 project with a generative system using only ellipses that resulted in four different compositions that “seek to evoke living constructions and environments.” In July 2022, Velitchkova also teamed up with generative artist Zach Lieberman for another popular project titled horizon(s), which is 6th in all-time sales volume on the platform at press time (“Unlivable” is 12th).
Taking inspiration from Spanish irrigation canals, this simple yet evocative project is the work of rica poole and lagrulladepapel. Combining day and night palettes, generative designs based on real Andalusian mountain villages, and relaxing water animations, Irrigation ditch topped the weekly sales volume chart upon its release and has cemented its position as one of the platform’s most memorable launches to date. the stairs too quite evocative of M. C. Escher’s work.
ryan bell recently made waves for his Art Blocks Presents collection Hyper Drive: Side A on Ethereum, but his journey to generative art prominence began on Tezos. While the prolific artist has released ten projects on fxhash, his March 2022 release fragments of a wave it remains its flagship on the platform both in terms of commercial (#15 in all-time sales volume) and critical reception. With a floor below 1000 Tezos at press time, it is also one of the most affordable projects on this list.
Every community comes with its own local lore, and fxhash is no exception. While the Dutch artist by Mark Knol SMOLSKULL The collection may not seem so serious at first glance, it has become a beloved facet of the fxhash ecosystem. Launched in November 2021 as the 14th project implemented on the platform, the whimsical pixelated skulls were quickly adopted by the fledgling community as fxhash’s first PFP project. While it helped that Knol already had a proven track record as a top-selling artist on the Tezos platform, SMOLSKULL it has shown impressive staying power and still ranks eighth in all-time sales volume.
Born in the United States and based in Saudi Arabia, Melissa Wiederrecht is an accomplished generative artist with two Art Blocks releases (Sudfah in Cured and Sandal on Presents) and eight fxhash collections to his credit. Combining vibrant colors and generative brushstrokes, his latest series, take wing, is arguably his most definitive generative work to date.
