According to data provided by Glassnode, the total value of the Ethereum 2.0 deposit contract hit new all-time highs (ATH), while the number of lost wallets dropped to a one-month low.
According to the data provider, the total number of Ethereum (ETH) accumulated in the deposit contract reached 16,087,719 ETH, worth around $25.5 billion at the time of writing. Ethereum is trading at $1,577, up 18.6% in the last seven days.
Furthermore, the escrow contract was first mentioned in October 2020 by a member of the Ethereum 2.0 blockchain development team, Ben Edgington. A month later, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced the official launch of the contract, saying it was fully funded, according to a crypto.news report.
The total value of the deposit contract reached the $10 billion mark in April 2021, when ETH was trading at around $2,500.
On the other hand, the number of losing ethereum wallets hit a one-month low of 37,769,550, according to data from Glassnode.
On Jan. 16, ETH staking rewards rose to 7.5%, while asset inflation showed signs of falling, as only 260 ETH were distributed in the last five months.
