The Ethereum Foundation has released a list of its Q4 donors who provided funding for various courses, including Web3 support in Uruguay, educational community talks, workshops, and more.
Donations totaled $4.37m
Grants are a type of direct funding that is awarded after formal application, evaluation, and advice from technical experts. These grants are not gifts or stock investments.
total donations, approximately $4.37 million, will be used for charitable and educational programs in various countries, including Vietnam, Japan, Hungary, Nepal and other countries. The funds will be used for various research programs on the consensus layer, cryptography, and trustless testing.
ESP’s efforts are primarily focused on enabling developers and not end users. Other allocations for the funds include general research, smart contract online courses, exploring the feasibility of minimal anti-collusion infrastructure (MACI) in multi-party computing (MPC) and research on ‘compromise’ against frontal attacks.
What is ESP?
Ecosystem Support Program (ESP) is the community allocation division of the Ethereum Foundation. ESP is an awards wave that offers financial and other assistance to qualified projects and academic studies on ethereum (ETH) that aim to advance the network. The two types of ESP grants (small grants and project grants) are distinguished by their respective procedures and requirements.
ESP focuses on research that improves the Ethereum architecture and empowers future developers, such as building blocks, libraries, research, civic engagement, educational resources, open standards, and infrastructure upgrades.
Eth DeFi TVL
In the first quarter of 2022, DeFi TVL was $89.5 billion. It represents a volume decrease of approximately 42% from $154.2 billion in Q4 2021, ahead of its 2023 roadmap.
The sharp drop in TVL is perhaps a reaction to a sell-off that has affected the entire market as prices fall. People often do this to free up their assets, giving them more flexibility in volatile market situations.
