The initial trading date for spot ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the US remains July 2, according to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas. In a post
“The ball is then in the SEC's court to inform issuers of any final changes and their effectiveness (aka final approval),” the analyst added. On June 14 he predicted the release date for the first time, as reported by crypto Briefing.
On May 23, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved ETF filings from eight ethereum ETF issuers, including BlackRock, Fidelity, VanEck, and others. However, only Forms 19b-4 were approved, which act as permission for the creation of the exchange-traded product.
In particular, Form S-1, which is an initial registration required by the SEC before a security can be publicly traded, still needs approval. The first amended S-1 form arrived a few minutes after Balchunas' publication, with Fidelity x.com/EricBalchunas/status/1804179458103931151″ rel=”noopener nofollow noreferrer”>presenting the document with adjustments ordered by the SEC.
Asset managers do not include their ETF fees on S-1 forms, and the Bloomberg analyst assessed that they could be waiting for BlackRock to reveal “to see what they need to orbit.”
