ethereum developers have confirmed a list of ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) that will be integrated into the Pectra upgrade, according to a recent x.com/sassal0x/status/1798869850200412383″ target=”_blank” rel=”noopener nofollow noreferrer”>advertisement from ethereum educator Anthony Sassano. Notable EIPs include EIP-7702, EIP-7594 (PeerDAS), and EIP-7251 (MaxEB).
Proposed by a group of ethereum developers, including ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, EIP-7702 aims for improved account abstraction, allowing addresses to act as smart contracts during transactions.
EIP-7702 will replace EIP-3074, an improvement previously suggested by the developers. EIP-7702 is expected to provide similar benefits to EIP-3074 while addressing its potential risks.
Meanwhile, EIP-7594, or PeerDAS, aims to improve cumulative scalability. The key aspect of this proposal is to optimize layer 2 (L2) solutions such as Base and Arbitrum. It is expected to boost transaction processing for L2s.
Additionally, EIP-7251, or MaxEB, will allow validators to stake up to 2,048 eth, a substantial increase from the current limit of 32 eth.
The update will also include EOF-related EIPs, EIP-2537 and EIP-7549, focusing on cryptographic improvements and efficiency.
“The expiration of the record is also being considered for inclusion in Pectra,” Sassano added.
Sassano expects ethereum's Pectra to go live in the first quarter of 2025, a timeline similar to the one recently announced by ethereum developers. The update follows the Dencun update that was successfully deployed in March.
Sassano said Pectra will be a milestone in ethereum's development roadmap.
“Pectra, the upcoming upgrade to the ethereum network, is shaping up to be the largest in ethereum history,” Sassano said.
