The Interchain Foundation has revealed its 2024 roadmap for Cosmos, prioritizing blockchain modularity and interoperability and attracting developers from the ethereum ecosystem.
The Interchain Foundation, a non-profit organization with the mission of driving the adoption of Cosmos, recently unveiled its roadmap for 2024. Its ambition is to redefine the landscape of what is popularly known as the “Internet of blockchains” .
In the center of this 50 page document lies Cosmos’ commitment to blockchain modularity and interoperability, fundamental concepts for the network.
These underline Cosmos’ goal of serving as a conduit, connecting various blockchain protocols, enabling seamless communication and transaction processes without the need to wrap tokens.
The emphasis on ethereum (eth) rollups reveals a clear intention: to serve developers who have encountered restrictions in Layer 2 solutions.
A fundamental element in Cosmos’ strategy is its inter-blockchain communication (IBC) protocol.
In 2024, IBC’s main goal is to integrate it with zero-knowledge and optimistic cumulative frameworks, further expanding its horizons.
Additionally, Cosmos’ software development kit (SDK) emphasizes the platform’s advantage over ethereum, particularly in terms of customization.
This clear advantage is attributed to the inherent flexibility of Cosmos, a byproduct of its modularity, which defines the functionalities of the blockchain.
However, it is essential to note, as Cosmos SDK admits, that while its software is theoretically modular, practical application is somewhat challenging.
María Gómez, CEO of the Interchain Foundation, said that Cosmos has found it difficult to attract developers, mainly due to the absence of a native token that can serve as a financial incentive.
ethereum‘s Vitalik Buterin, for example, presents roadmaps that, even if they don’t happen, spark excitement and encourage conversations.
This narrative-driven engagement is what Cosmos aims to replicate with its 2024 roadmap. As Gómez says, it aims to capture the imagination of developers in a way similar to ethereum.
Data of Token terminal reveals that there were 660 changes to Cosmos Hub, the fundamental Cosmos blockchain, in September.
