Kamala Harris announced today he is “supporting a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies and other digital assets so that black men who invest in and own these assets are protected.”
No, that's not click bait: Harris' first specific crypto policy is here and it's race-based.
As a Bitcoiner, I must say that this is a huge misstep and shows that Harris absolutely does not understand bitcoin, a network where everyone already has the same access regardless of race, color or creed.
Harris and Democrats have for years promoted themselves as “anti-racist,” while labeling their opponents and anyone who challenges them as racists. Here, Kamala is extending that policy to cryptocurrencies, playing favoritism with a specific demographic.
Let's imagine that Trump had presented an agenda stating that he will work on policies that will benefit whites in the cryptocurrency industry. The media would be in an uproar about it. But unlike Harris, Trump does not favor one race of people over all others. He is making pro-bitcoin policies that are for ALL Americans.
On this basis alone, Trump's approach is undoubtedly much better for bitcoin than the one Harris has proposed: he actually goes into specific detail on what exactly he would do to encourage innovation within this industry if elected, and explains how these policies benefit to everyone.
This new rhetoric from Harris appears to be nothing more than simply pandering to one group of people for votes, while likely losing votes from others she excludes. Any voter who tells themselves otherwise is lying to themselves.
Let's ask ourselves this: do we believe Harris' policies will make it easier for African Americans to access and own bitcoin? Or do we think his administration will make it more difficult? If more obstacles are placed on buyers of Black bitcoin, I for one cannot imagine anything worse.
bitcoin is an open source protocol open to anyone in the world. It doesn't matter what race you are, anyone can use it. This policy is a slap in the face to all American Bitcoiners, and bitcoin voters should go to the polls in three weeks to ensure she is not elected president.
