Well, my dear Bitcoiners, it seems that we have achieved it. The unthinkable has been thought, the improbable has been achieved, and the absolutely ridiculous has come true: bitcoin has surpassed $100,000! But now, as the laser eyes darken and the confetti settles, the question arises: What's next?
Fear not, because bitcoin's restless meme-loving army has a new mission, and it's as ambitious as it is crazy. Our goal? Flip gold's market cap on its shiny, old-fashioned head and send bitcoin hurtling toward a cool $1 million per coin. Because, let's be honest, who needs gold when you have digital treasure?
A flashback to the laser eye phenomenon
Before we dive into our latest antics, let's take a moment to tip our hats (or perhaps put on our monocles) to the #LaserEyesTo100K Campaign. Back in the halcyon days of 2021, a bitcoin enthusiast named Chairforce (yes, he's a real person, not a Transformer) had the brilliant idea of laser Photoshopping twitter avatars. Because? Because nothing screams “financial revolution” more than looking like a superhero in a Marvel knockoff.
The movement was a success. The politicians united. Celebrities too. Even your uncle Geoff, with his poor internet connection, managed to put some laser eyes on his profile photo. The objective of the campaign? To keep those lasers on until bitcoin hits $100,000. And three years later, in December 2024, it finally happened. For the full story, you can read it all in bitcoin Magazine's excellent article, “The Origins of bitcoin Laser Eyes.”
But now that bitcoin is in the six-figure club, it's time to put away the lasers (you can stop scaring the family cat) and set our sights on a new frontier.
The new mission: invest gold
Ah, gold: the shiny yellow heirloom that people have been hoarding for centuries. While it's lovely for necklaces, teeth, and pirate treasure chests, it's time for bitcoin to knock it off its golden pedestal. Currently, bitcoin's market capitalization is $2.018 trillion, a respectable 11.36% of gold's $17.765 trillion. Not bad, but we have bigger plans.
In 2024, bitcoin's market capitalization surpassed silver, which was a bit like overtaking its slower cousin in a three-legged race. But here's the kicker: BlackRock, the financial giant, launched a bitcoin ETF last year and it has already outperformed its gold ETF. Yes, you read that right. Demand for bitcoin is growing faster than a queue for free tea and biscuits.
The next step? 2025 could be the year bitcoin reverses the market cap of gold, finally showing the world that digital trumps physical. And, of course, we need a campaign that lives up to this monumental goal.
Introducing #PicFlipTillGoldFlip
Now, let's talk about campaigns. After the huge success of laser eyes, the bitcoin community needed something new, bold and devilishly simple. My first idea was #GoldGrillTill1Mill, where users would Photoshop gold teeth into their profile photos. But then I remembered two things: 1) Not everyone has Picasso's graphic design skills, and 2) Some of us still have nightmares about Kanye's dental jewelry.
Then it hit me: KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid. And so, the #PicFlipTillGoldFlip the campaign was born. The idea is deliciously silly: flip your profile photo. That's all. No lasers, no gold teeth, no expensive software. Simply rotate your image and voila, you are part of the movement.

<a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/bitcoin?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>#bitcoin has reached $100,000, but the journey is not over.
From laser eyes to upside-down photography, it's time to turn the financial world upside down, literally.

This symbolizes bitcoin's current position below the market capitalization of gold. The picture is upside down because bitcoin has not yet turned to gold. But when you do, we'll flip those images up faster than you can say “store of value.”
Will you join the movement?
Social media campaigns like this aren't just about laughs (although, let's face it, laughs are a bonus). They build community, raise awareness, and remind everyone that bitcoin's potential is literally out of this world.
The laser eye campaign took Bitcoiners from $50,000 to $100,000 in just three years. The question now is: how long will it take to convert gold to gold? One year? Two? A decade? As much as it may be necessary, the momentum is with us. bitcoin is no longer the underdog: it's the digital heavyweight, poised to take the crown from the king of shiny rocks.
So, dear reader, would you trade your photo for bitcoin? Will you participate in #PicFlipTillGoldFlip and join us on this absurdly exciting journey to a million dollars? Or do you have an even better idea for a campaign? If so, speak up! The bitcoin community is always up to some mischief.
Until then, I'll see you backwards. Health!
