Today, Dr. Craig S Wright, who claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto despite providing no concrete evidence, has issued a settlement offer to members of the crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) and all other parties involved. The letter, bitcoin-blockchain-tech/dr-craig-wright-issues-settlement-offer-to-copa-members-and-all-parties-in-upcoming-intellectual-property-litigation/”>published on Wright's personal blog, he describes the terms of the proposed deal.
Dr. Wright's letter expresses his willingness to settle multiple cases of protracted legal battles that he initiated. The proposed agreement offers to waive rights to Wright's database and copyrights related to the btc, BCH and ABC databases, and to “offer an irrevocable license in perpetuity to my opposing parties who control, operate and/or or collectively own those databases.” It is important to note that bitcoin (btc) is a decentralized and distributed ledger, meaning that no individual or organization owns or controls the network.
“Obviously, if he is not Satoshi (which is the case with COPA), then the 'database rights and copyrights' are not his to license,” it is reported. saying WizSec bitcoin Research. “Calvin and Craig probably think they're playing 5D chess by building this “offer” on such an obvious false premise.”
Part of Wright's terms is that COPA must not create, copy or fork bitcoin. It is important to note that Craig Wright's bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV) is a fork of bitcoin Cash (BCH), which was a fork of the first and original cryptocurrency, bitcoin (btc).
Wright also wrote verbiage in his offering that attempts to continue his stance by calling himself Satoshi Nakamoto, demanding in his offering that entities stop claiming to represent bitcoin and must publicly acknowledge what they believe bitcoin was created to do.
While it may seem reasonable to those not up to date on these trials that Wright's offer is reasonable, many Bitcoiners in the community who have been involved in reporting on these cases think Wright is simply doing this to “continue scamming under the Satoshi moniker and avoid jail time for his over 500 self-made forgeries.”
“I have been following the COPA – Wright case pending in the United Kingdom, and I must say that in over 35 years of litigation I have never seen anything like the level of falsification of documents in a lawsuit by one of the parties.” saying J Nicholas Gross Master's Degree in Intellectual Property Law from Berkeley. “At this point, I don't understand how CW attorneys can continue to represent a party they can clearly see is committing fraud in court, in plain sight and now with her complicity.”
The response of COPA members and other involved parties will be critical in determining the trajectory of the dispute. COPA, an organization that advocates for patent non-aggression in the crypto community, faces the decision of entering into settlement discussions or continuing the legal battle. You have until 4 pm on January 31 to review and accept or reject Dr. Wright's offer.
