On a visit to El Zonte, Rittener was inspired by the work bitcoin Beach and House of hope they were doing to improve their community. He noted that while there is plenty of technical and macroeconomic content, there was a gap in coverage of the human stories behind bitcoin, especially as it relates to the rise of bitcoin Beach. Rittener especially saw the positive aspect that bitcoin was having in changing people’s lives. He also wanted the content to be relevant not only to Bitcoiners but to the general public through qualitative stories they could connect with.
To that end, it was important that the film lead audiences to answer the question “what is money?” Here, bitcoin philosopher and podcaster Robert BreedloveIn a friendly and accessible way, he guides the public through this complex issue.
The genesis of the bitcoin beach
“Dare to Dream” illuminates the origins of bitcoin Beach, dispelling the mystery surrounding its creation. With meticulous precision, Delahunty traces the roots of this innovative movement, unearthing untold stories that led to an unprecedented financial revolution in El Zonte.

“Dare to Dream” features testimonials from well-known figures in the bitcoin space, providing a unique perspective on the continued evolution of bitcoin adoption. Max Keizerwho moved to El Salvador and committed significant resources, shares some of his thoughts on bitcoin adoption, while Nicolas Burtey, CEO of Galoy, emphasizes Lightning’s role as a means to empower communities. Additionally, the film delves into a comprehensive exploration of how bitcoin is becoming integrated into the fabric of Salvadoran society. While audiences must pay to see the film, it was created as a non-profit project and if the film makes any profit, 90% of the profits will go directly to aiding the educational outreach efforts of bitcoin Beach and House of hope.
