Wow, we finally hit $100,000 worth of bitcoins. What a time to be alive! A cypherpunk experiment that started as magical internet money is now the Seventh largest asset worldwide, exceeding a market capitalization of 2 trillion dollars. But make no mistake: we're just getting started. 2025 will be the year of bitcoin. $100 thousand seems like the mere beginning.
This is my third bitcoin bull market after entering 2016. From experience, the party is still early. Here's why I think the $100,000 bitcoin is just the tip of the iceberg:
- Trump has not yet taken office. The next few years, especially the first, will likely bring very favorable regulations to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
- The United States has not yet started accumulating btc. When it does, it will notify all countries to adopt bitcoin as soon as possible.
- Historically, the year after the halving pumps more as supply shrinks. Now we are halving after 2024. You do the math.
- More public companies are adopting bitcoin treasuries. This trend will accelerate exponentially in 2025.
- Some US states have <a target="_blank" href="https://www.steptoe-johnson.com/news/pennsylvania-joining-the-united-states-in-proposing-a-bitcoin-strategic-reserve-implications-for-the-energy-industry/#:%7e:text=On%20November%2019%2C%20Pennsylvania%20Representative,its%20treasury%20reserves%20into%20Bitcoin.”>legislation introduced keep bitcoins in reserves. More are expected to follow.
- Putin is now <a target="_blank" href="https://x.com/BitcoinMagazine/status/1864311299766714608″>actively talking about bitcoinpassing pro-crypto laws in Russia and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2024/11/08/russia-to-mine-bitcoin-in-brics-countries-a86952″>allowing national bitcoin and cryptocurrency mining. Global adoption is underway.
With a pro-bitcoin American president aiming to make the United States the bitcoin capital of the world, you better believe we're over the moon. Game theory says that other nations must compete and buy btc or risk irrelevance.
So no, $100,000 is not the limit. I would be surprised if we don't surpass historic multiples this cycle, especially as nation-state adoption accelerates. The show is just beginning.
