The Binance cryptocurrency exchange has organized training courses for representatives of law enforcement authorities in Ukraine. The leading coin trading platform has been involved in dozens of similar initiatives over the past year, in various countries.
Binance Provides Crypto Training to Security Officials in Ukraine
The world’s largest digital asset exchange Binance has provided training to Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies in the form of webinars for their staff dedicated to cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies.
A representative of the crypto trading platform briefed the participants on Binance’s anti-money laundering policy, crypto news outlet Forklog reported. The methods developed by the exchange to detect and prevent fraud were also presented.
The classes were attended by employees of the Cyber Police of Ukraine, which is the anti-cybercrime unit of the National Police of Ukraine (NPU), the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Asset Recovery and Management Agency. (WEAPON).
Ukraine, which is waging a bitter war with Russia, faces various challenges on a daily basis, noted Kiril Khomyakov, Binance’s general manager for Ukraine and Central Europe. “Among them are financial crimes that threaten the stability and security of the country’s financial ecosystem. Our goal is to join efforts to prevent cybercrime and, in particular, the financing of terrorism,” he added.
Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are involved in operations against cryptocurrency-related crimes. In November, the Cyberpolice force took on a fraud scheme that generated €200 million a year by luring investors through call centers across Europe. In the past, the unit has expressed support for the legalization of cryptocurrencies in the country, and in March of last year, it began accepting cryptocurrency donations.
The Eastern European nation is a leader in cryptocurrency adoption and has been taking steps to regulate the market in cooperation with its participants. Since November, ARMA has been exchanging information with major cryptocurrency trading platforms about wallet ownership as part of criminal proceedings.
The Binance Investigations team has organized and participated in more than 30 cybercrime and financial crime workshops over the past year, the report notes. These have been attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies from various nations.
The exchange has also been involved in educational projects in the region. In February, he agreed to support Georgia in developing its crypto sector through cryptocurrency-focused and educational events. In December, Binance launched a blockchain education program in Kazakhstan and offered to support Azerbaijan’s regulatory efforts.
