“One of the goals of the grant program is to recognize and reward emerging talent contributing to the development of bitcoin Core,” said Arthur Hayes, CIO of Maelstrom.
Hayes added that supporting full-time developers strengthens the bitcoin ecosystem. Rkrux represents the type of new talent that Maelstrom hopes to support through its grants.
Rkrux He said the funding came at the perfect time as he was deciding whether to quit his job to pursue bitcoin Core full-time. “Maelstrom’s financial support has made this possible,” he commented.
As a seasoned engineer but a recent contributor to bitcoin, Rkrux is eager to take on the role and move the project forward. His goal is to become one of the core bitcoin Core developers with the backing of the Maelstrom grant. The more full-time developers working on bitcoin Core, the better it will be for the improvement and resilience of the network over time.
